The Cedars Forest of Tannourine is considered as one of the largest cedar forest in Lebanon. It is so dense that cedar trees therein constitute 90% of the whole forest area. The cedar trees grow impressively on totally vertical slopes. Visitors, while hiking, will discover the splendid rock – cut caves or the beautiful natural grottos, in addition to the scarce species of flowers, such as tulips of the mountain which is particular to this high gorgeous forest.
How to reach there
1-From Beirut, follow the coastal highway north till the city of Jbeil (Byblos), then shift east towards Annaya passing through the towns of Ehmej and Laklouk. Drive left on the road which crosses Laklouk. The trip will last less than 45 minutes.
2-From Tripoli, head south the coastal road to Chekka, then cross Amyoun, Kousba and Hadath RL Jebbé until you reach Upper Tannourine (Al Fawqa).
3-From Batroun, drive east towards Ebreen and Sourat, before Deir Bella, head right towards Kfar Halda, and then Tannourine Al Fawqa. The drive from Batroun to Tannourine will take less than an hour.
